Radar
Radar was invented back in 1940, and whilst its application was limited to use in World War 2 back then, scientists have been tweaking and developing it for consumers to use.
If you do any sort night time journeying then a radar is a very valuable tool for being able to "see" what your eyes alone may not pick up.
